Google has just released a new public DNS  resolver service, Google Public DNS, for all internet users. In today’s internet world, getting response from servers is not that important, but getting very quick response is much needed.

Google Public DNS has been launched to make the web experience faster. Prem Ramaswami, Product Manager of Google has published a post on Google’s official blog.

 Here’s what he has to say about the new service:

Today, as part of our ongoing effort to make the web faster, we’re launching our own public DNS resolver called Google Public DNS, and we invite you to try it out.

There are many such services available on the Internet that helps in resolving domain names into IP addresses. Local ISPs also provide this facility to have better web experience. However, it’s always preferable to use any other popular services like OpenDNS.

Sometimes local ISP’s DNS resolvers don’t work properly and gives slow speed. Google’s new Google Public DNS service seems to be promising and it will not make any harm to your system.

If you want to try Google Public DNS, then remove your default DNS addresses and put Google’s DNS addresses.

OpenDNS is leading the web since last few years, but now Google has arrived in the business to give very tough competition.
